When should you see a mammologist?

You should consider seeing a mammologist if you notice:

• A palpable lump in the breast;
• Changes in breast size or shape;
• Nipple retraction;
• Dimpling or retraction of the breast skin;
• Redness or swelling of the breast;
• Sores or other changes in the nipple or areola area;
• Enlarged lymph nodes in the armpit;
• Bloody nipple discharge.

Important to know

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women. Early diagnosis is one of the most important factors in detecting the disease at an early stage and starting treatment in a timely manner.

• Breast pain is usually not the first sign of breast cancer;
• Most changes detected in the breast are benign, but they should always be evaluated by a doctor;
