Fields of interest: diagnosis of benign diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid glands; diagnosis and histological confirmation (biopsy) of thyroid malignancies, definition and discussion of treatment plan, post-operative follow-up of patients. Diagnosis and treatment of anterior abdominal wall and post-operative hernias, diagnosis and treatment of gall bladder diseases, removal of benign and malignant skin and subcutaneous lesions. Performs: biopsies, removal of lesions by radiofrequency technology, various surgical operations and ultrasound examinations.
A. Ostapenko has been working as a surgeon since 1983. He received his medical education at the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University. He has performed over 5 000 operations. He is one of the pioneers of endocrine surgery and minimally invasive surgery in Lithuania. He is actively involved in scientific and practical activities of students and residents at Vilnius University Hospital, Santaros Clinic.
The doctor constantly improves his qualification, participates in national and international conferences and seminars every year.
